Share of biofuel use of total fuel use

This indicator shows how much biofuel is used in the Nordic region (excl. Iceland) in relation to the total use of fuel. The use of biofuel is often regarded as having a neutral impact on the greenhouse effect and on global warming and is thus preferable to fossil fuel. Biofuel includes energy products produced from biomass (straw, firewood, wood pellets, biogas, biodiesel, etc.). Also incinerated renewable waste is included in biofuel. Note: Data for Finland is preliminary and based on a pilot study. New, updated and revised data will be available by the beginning of 2018.
